Our Story

OUR STORY - WE COMPLETE THE PICTURE

The Framing Centre is a business that takes the task of framing and gives it a shot of espresso.

Under the leadership of owner, Kerry Hobday, with a retail outlet in Tokai, manufacturing facility/factory outlet in Wynberg/Ottery and staff who have been in the business long enough to qualify as framing aficionados, we ensure your photos, memorabilia and artwork, are given the attention they deserve.   Whether looking to frame your child’s macaroni art or your own Monet – we’ve got you covered. Our consultants will guide you through the process of selecting the best framing option and material for the perfect frame to match your personal style. So, why settle for poor quality frames from that big box store down the street when you can come to The Framing Centre where we’ll help you give your art that unique edge.

With a factory space of 500m square and a staff of 13+, The Framing Centre has proven capability in the production of highly finished, cost-effective framing. Open lines between retail and factory staff ensure follow through and attention to detail on all framing projects undertaken.

The Tokai outlet now trades from 11 Tokai Road, Tokai (opposite Blue Route Mall), with convenient on-site parking available and there is an additional factory showroom & production facility in Wynberg/Ottery. The Framing Centre has the peninsula covered.

    FRAME SPEAK

Our consultants will talk you through the various options available to find the right moulding option that will best showcase your piece and suit your needs, personal style and budget.

    Mount Boards

The purpose of a mount board is primarily to add space between frame and piece. And from a practical point of view, a mount allows air to circulate between the art & the glass. Available in a myriad of shades, the subtleties of which need to be appreciated; mounts should to be chosen with care, so as not to overpower the piece.

    Glass

The final consideration is glass – Art Glass®, non-reflective glass or clear class. Art Glass® offers UV protection and reduces reflection dramatically while still providing absolute clarity to view the piece. Non-reflective glass has no reflection whatsoever, however, it does affect the colours slightly and will blur the image if not directly against the piece. Clear glass is cost effective and offers clarity but is highly reflective in a brightly lit environment and offers no UV protection.

Framing floated between two sheets of glass is also an option for a light and airy feel.
